Just when you thought I was through posting vintage

store fronts, (scroll...)  here comes another!

This Supermarket Playset was made by

Artoys in the 40's.

The company was once located in

North Carolina and after 1951

became a division of of the

Ideal Novelty and Toy Company of NYC,

(Dimensions when closed: 17 1/2" x 10" x 3")

Made from wood and composition board,

this set opens up and closes with a latch.

Originally I believe it had a carrying strap.

The penguin cold chest still has

its celluloid sliding door.

I believe the cash register

and three wooden block items

 are original to the set.

I added labels to the Mr. Peanut

and Raggedy Ann cans.

The store was sold to me with mini German

play food paper boxes from a later time period

Some of these same imported cookies

 are still sold today

at the Christmas Shop on Cape Cod.

I had extra food boxes from t

he 60's and added them.

 Some of the store graphics

are my own re-creations,

like the Borden's ice cream boxes.

I loved Elsie the cow!!

Here comes Ginny!

Ginny has a few items to pick up for Mom!

But she has her eye on something specific as you will soon see!

The floral painting on the set is original.

The bottom red doors slide open or closed

for storage.

I added store close-ups below

on the next two pages,

then more Ginnys will follow...
