The CSI Boxing Episode Guide

I have to apologize for the obvious 1995 HTML here. I'm ...*ahem* trying to make a complete episode guide for CSI Boxing Shows. What exactly is CSI boxing? Have you ever seen a really, really, low quality boxing show on local television? Also, was Tye Fields on the card? If you, it might've been a CSI card. Still need your memory refreshed?? Ok, then here's the CSI logo:

Personally, I like this logo more (Thanks to Dumpster2 for this):

From what I've seen, the show is usually hosted by either Al Bernstein or Sean O'Grady and is co-hosted by 'Smitty' (His real name escapes me). Note that both Bernstein and O'Grady both are commentators for better channels (Showtime and Fox Sports, respectively).
Here are some more facts: There's been at least 100 shows as of February 2004. Three of those have been on Pay Per View. I have no idea when the series itself started or where the company is based. I was just lucky enough to find that logo. There's no CSI website ... so don't ask. Also, I think they charge something like $65,000 to produce boxing shows.
I think the easiest way to take on this project is to work backwards. I have a pretty good idea what recent shows have been shown by CSI and what show number they were. The only problem is I don't know exactly what fights from a given card were shown. You see, I've only had the honor of seeing ten CSI cards or so at the most. Most of the "tidbits" that I add to each card are based on my craptastic memory.
This is where you, the reader comes in. CSI cards are shown all over the United States. They're never shown on a set channel or anything, so it's a good chance you've seen a CSI card. If you have any information on a CSI card, a tape of a CSI card, or a written report, please e-mail me here. So, here it goes. Enjoy.

World Class Championship Boxing #48
Date of Event: January 24, 2004
Location: San Felipe's Casino Hollywood, Albuquerque, New Mexico
Main Event: Cesar Lopez SD10 Bryan Garcia
Notes: Where to start. First off, Boxrec only lists three fights being on the card. Garcia had a 6-7 record entering the fight. That should tell you how bad Lopez is.
Other fights shown: This card was so bad, I can't imagine.
Gboxrec rating: 4 out of 5 Martha Salazars

World Class Championship Boxing Episode #47
Date of Event: January 15, 2004
Location: Arena Theatre, Houston, Texas
Main Event: Nurhan Suleymanoglu UD 12 Jesus Soto-Karas
Notes: Soto-Karas was a last minute fill in.
Other fights shown: This card was so bad, I can't imagine.
Gboxrec rating: 4 out of 5 Martha Salazars

World Class Championship Boxing Episode #46
Date of Event: December 13, 2003
Location: The Cow Palace, San Francisco, CA
Main Event: Juaquin Gallardo TKO8 Sergio De La Torre
Notes: Folks, you're nothing going to believe this, but there was no episode 46. I really can't put the whole story into words, but thankfully there is a wonderful website that documents this whole card. You can read that here. Apparently the card was so week and the facilities were so bad that CSI flat out refused to tape it. I mean ... that's how bad this card sucked.
Other fights shown: Read above.
Gboxrec rating: Automatic 5 out of 5 Martha Salazars

World Class Championship Boxing Episode #45
Date of Event: December 5, 2003
Location: Polk County Convention Complex in Des Moines, Iowa
Main Event: Tye Fields KO3 Julius Long
Notes: Well, the good news here is that I actually saw some of this show (Thanks to Dutch Windmill). I got the show number from some TV Network website. The fight was billed for the Vacant WBE Continental Americas Super Heavyweight Title. Both Fields and Long are quite tall (6'8" and 7'2") and not very good. The fight itself was an abomination, and the knockout punch looked like it didn't land. It didn't help Tye's reputation, as there are rumors that his previous fight against Sherman Williams was fixed. All in all, it was an incredible show.
Other fights shown (to my knowledge):
James Crawford UD6 J.J. Corn
Gary Bell NC2 Allan Smith
Grant Cudjoe TKO1 David Cherry
Notes: I could download the Crawford-Corn and Bell-Smith fights whenever I feel, but I've been too lazy. I can't explain the Bell-Smith NC ... apparently it's so bizzare that I need to see it (thanks Dutch :D ). I'm putting Cudjoe-Cherry on the list, because there was a promo clip for it after the Fields fight. Sadly, Dutch doesn't have a copy of it. It's too bad, because it lasted 56 seconds. There might've been even more fights shown, but this is all I know.

World Class Championship Boxing Episode #44
Date of Event: November 21, 2003
Location: Crowne Plaza, New York, New York
Main Event: Emmanuel Clottey UD 12 Jesus Santiago
Notes: Let's see, the main event was billed as being for the Vacant IBA Americas Light Welterweight Title. Once again, I found the show number on some TV Network website. The card was promoted by the great Lou DiBella. Santiago was just 8-5-1 ... compare that to Clottey's 20-5 record.
Other fights shown:
Josuha Clottey TKO6 Jeffrey Hill (?)
Notes: I honestly have no clue what other fights were shown. Sorry.
Gboxrec Score: 2 out of 5 Martha Salazars

World Class Championship Boxing Episode #43
Date of Event: November 15, 2003
Location: Club Ovation, Boynton Beach, Florida
Main Event: Ernest Mateen TKO8 Uriah Grant
Notes: This fight was for the Vacant IBU Cruiserweight Title. If you've never seen the IBU's website, I suggest you check it out. This fight was also a rematch. I honestly cannot say a lot more about this "main event". Grant is completely past his prime and had lost five straight coming into that fight. Mateen was coming off a pair of stoppage losses.
Other fights shown:
Raul Frank KO1 Alex Carillo Villa (?)
Notes: Again, I have no idea what other fights they showed. All I know is that this whole card was an abomination. Thus, it's fitting that CSI decided to broadcast it.
Gboxrec Score: 4 out of 5 Martha Salazars

World Class Championship Boxing Episode #42
Date of Event: November 7, 2003
Location: Tuscany Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada
Main Event: Martin Honorio TKO10 Sergio Sanchez
Notes: This was for the Vacant NBA Featherweight Title. Sanchez had a 14-13-5 record entering the fight. I don't think I can say much more.
Other fights shown: I ... I can't imagine.
Gboxrec rating: 4 out of 5 Martha Salazars

World Class Championship Boxing Episode #41
Date of Event: October 23, 2003
Location: Princess Chateau, Lodi, New Jersey
Main Event: Kabary Salem TKO2 Kenny Bowman
Notes: Well, this was for the NBA Super Middleweight Title. I think every CSI main event has to be for some title or something. Bowman had lost five of six entering the fight. I wonder where Lodi, New Jersey is.
Other fights shown:
Ahmed Kaddour TKO1 Leo Edwards (?)
Notes: Let's see, the main event goes two rounds, and the chief support lasts one. That's quintessential CSI for you.
Gboxrec rating: 3 out of 5 Martha Salazars

World Class Championship Boxing EPISODE # UNKNOWN
Date of Event: September 6, 2003
Location: Greensboro Coliseum, Greensboro, North Carolina
Main Event: George Khalid Jones NC1 James Crawford
Notes: How can James Crawford get knocked down twice and still escape with a no contest? I want to see the fight card quite badly.
Other fights shown:
Chris Troupe MD4 Edson Aguirre Ortiz
Notes: Even though I didn't see this card, I took this picture off the boxrec board. I give credit to the person how posted this sweet picture. I don't know of any other fights that were shown.

Gboxrec rating: 3 out of 5 Martha Salazars

Special thanks: Isiklari for some info, Dumpster2 for the logo, and Dutch Windmill for the videos.
